Yesterday was Ashtyn's birthday and she turned the big number eight. I can't believe I have and eight year old! She is such a sweet little girl and is so much fun to watch grow up. She loves her Nintendo ds (fashion designer the newest fave) LPS (Littlest Pet Shop) and reading. She has about 3 or 4 books going at a time and will read through them like wild fire. (I wish I were reading as much as she is) She chose the theme of animals (LPS) for her birthday party. We hired a few young women to come and paint the girls faces and they did an awesome job (holla to ya - Michelle, Kaysha & Tawnie). The girls looked so cute. Then they made animal print cards and animal cupcakes. The girls were so creative and made some cute animals. Aleyce (neighborhood crafting queen) let us use her vines and leaves for decorations. They made the house feel so different and fun that I wanted to leave them up. We are so glad Ashtyn has so many good friends. They are all so cute and laugh a lot...and really loud.....but I loved hearing every minute. Emily (sis) came down with Kennedy and helped out with the party. I love having her close and being able to have her for days like yesterday. She even came with us to the Old Spaghetti Factory (Ashtyns Birthday Dinner Choice). The best part is that Jay was home this year. Usually he is recruiting and has either had to miss her day or fly in just long enough to eat somewhere near the airport and fly back out. Maybe next year he will come to the party as the balloon making clown (ha ha!)
Eight birthdays later I still love throwing a party and she still loves having a party. What more could ya want. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHTYN

13.1 MILES

So this is year Josie (big sis) and Erica (Honorary sis) joined us for the St George 1/2 marathon. This is becoming a fun tradition. I am hoping that we can keep recruiting people to join us for this race. The best part is everything leading up to the race. Like no guilt carb loading at Olive Garden and the chats on the way down. Even the random friends you see while running, like Tara Cooper. I look over and there is a friendly face I hadn't seen for a while...so fun! I grabbed her to say hi, then realized I about pushed her off the course (Sorry Tara) I was just so excited to see her. This year was much warmer than last. It looks so beautiful and sunny, but it was still cold especially after running and you cool down I thought I was going to freeze. Maybe one day we will get Jay down and he can watch the kids while we all go get massaged or pedicures after. I should put a sign up list on the blog for anyone looking to join us next year. (13.1 miles once a year is about all I can handle:)

Christmas in Idaho
So as I catch up to January, I have decided I really need to start taking more pictures and better pictures. I only have a few pictures from Christmas break. Santa brought Christmas to the cabin this year. It was quite a chore to get there in all our craziness but once there Christmas was magical. Dad made the cabin absolutely adorable. From the decorations to the gingerbread cookies it was a perfect holiday. It was nice that Chad and Emily have their cabin so close and let us stay there. With Grandma and Grandpa's Cabin Mom and Dads and Chad and Emily's it makes for very comfortable arrangements. We had planned to come home earlier, but didn't want to leave and stayed till Jay had to be back at work. Ashtyn and Alayna played on Chad's little kid snowmobiles (125s). Ashtyn loved racing her cousins around the track. Alayna ran into the cabin and decided she would just ride with Ashtyn. I took them for a cross country ski and Ashtyn really enjoyed it, I think mostly because Alayna lost interest real fast so she had rare one on one with mom. When we took them up to Grand Targhee Alayna really took to the down hill skiing. Ashtyn is old enough to understands gravity. I can't wait to get them back up on the hill. Jay and Grandpa took on the task of the annual snow fort and were so proud of making it structurally sound. Ashtyn and Alayna were in charge of getting the icicles and Paulo was in charge of getting in the way. Paulo had so much fun running through the 4 feet of snow. He didn't even seem to mind the bitter cold. Dad and Mom said they would watch the kids on our anniversary (Dad would take Jacob Mom would have Ashtyn and they would tag team Alayna:) But after 10 years we just being with family was all we really wanted to do for our anniversary. So we hung out next to the fire in M & D's cabin and watched meet the robinsons and life couldn't be better.

POINSETTIA BOWL

I am trying to play a little catch up from last month. Especially since January is usually pretty slow at the beginning....December was soooo crazy we were gone 17 days out of the month. In fact I usually take down the Christmas decorations the 1st or 2nd of January but I hadn't been home enough to get sick of them so I left them up a while. Our first adventure was to San Diego for the Poinsettia Bowl. Utah beat Navy in their usual nail biting way. But the events leading up to it were so fun and relaxing. We were able to go to Sea World (pics of the kids watching the whales at feeding time) and to the Aircraft Carrier Museum "The Midway". It is so amazing that a hunk of metal that large can float. It was fun to have some of Jays family there, Nicole and her family as well as Ferrell and Venda. Jay was even able to hang out with us more than some of the previous bowls. It sure makes some of those long days and recruiting trips a hair more bearable when you get a fun vacation at the end....So GO UTES!!!! (Ty, Kaiden, Taje and Aspen were all excited to see and get a picture with Eric Weddle, maybe even more excited to see him than they were to see Jay, but don't tell him that)

Dance, Dance, Dance

Ashtyn loves her dance class with MCE. They teach both ballet and tap. I love Murray and all the community programs, but it is a good ol boys system. Luckily Ashtyn and her 2 friends Rachel and Rylie were able to be in the same class because this is the year they become fixed in a class. No one can add into it, the same girls will dance until they graduate from high school. I guess they just don't have a lot of people moving in or out. And since we have a job here for another year we are glad she has friends and a carpool :) In the Christmas Program she danced to Papa Noel. I thought this was the cutest dance she has done so far. I am looking for my USB cord for my video camera so I can upload her dance to the blog. The best part about MCE's program is that the Christmas show and Spring shows are kept to 1 hour and very well organized. (Props and a holla to Miss Becky) These pictures are from dinner after her program. We always go to her favorite place....IHOP.
Only 289 days till halloween!

I love looking at pictures from other peoples blog so I decided my blog will have lots of pictures. This means I have to be better at taking pictures.
I know it is January and Halloween is long past or looking the other way, Halloween won't be here for a long time, but nothing makes my smile more than seeing little monkeys (kids) in their halloween costumes.
Ashtyn was a dead wedding bride and let Alayna walk with her in the school parade. Alayna, you've guessed, was Ariel. Her preschool went to gardner village to see the witches. She loved it. And Jacob was going to be a baby until my MIL (mother in law) Venda bought him a pirate costume. At first I thought how rediculous to put a 9 week old baby in a costume, but then I put him in it and he was so cute. Look out Johnny Depp, Captain Jake has arrived :)
